Sunrise Service - music arranged by Vartan Sarxian

Table of Contents

The presentation of these sharagans are taken from the arrangements made by Vartan Sarxian (published in 1969 by the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America), but with two major changes:

(1) - The approximate key range of F Major has been used throughout - meaning that in many cases, the pitch level has been lowered. In the original 1969 publication some higher pitch key signatures are also used in addition to the F Major range. In practice, the higher pitch versions have proven to be a challenge for the vocal ranges of most normal choir singers, and even some soloists.
(2) - The voice leading has been defaulted to Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass - SATB format. In the original 1969 publication, in addition to the SATB format, some wonderful combinations have been used within the female voice ranges as well as the male voice ranges. Again in practice, most choirs have a challenge in having well trained voices to address just the SATB format much less the other combinations.

Please note that these sharagans are being presented here in the context of a Tutorial. If some choirs can sing in the original higher keys - they are encouraged to do so. If some choirs have the resources to sing in other voice combinations in addition to the SATB format, they are encouraged to do so.
