AACCA- CENTRAL COUNCIL REPORT

 

The 2002 AACCA Choir Central Council is focusing on the ìWorship and Badarakî area though the development of Junior Choirs in our Parishes and Mission Parishes, and the scheduling of ìSenior Choir Workshopsî.Ý Below are a list of accomplishments for theÝÝÝÝÝ 1st quarter of 2002 (Jan., Feb., and March ).

 

1.- TheÝ AACCA formed the Junior Choir Committee and defined the program goals in February 1999.Ý We currently have 17 Junior Choirs established in the Diocese.Ý They are Detroit, Watertown, Providence, Trumbull, Cambridge, Worcester, Bayside, Elberon, FairLawn, Tenafly, White Plains, Wynnewood, Washington, Cleveland, Houston, Jacksonville, and Atlanta.Ý Potential Parishes that are going to start new Junior Choirs are Lawrence, Springfield, New Britain, Hartford, Evanston, and Boca Raton.Ý

 

2.-Two Junior Choir workshops are being scheduled, one on September 21, 2002 in the New England region and the other tentatively in the Midwest region, June.29, 2002. Workshops will include teaching Badarak hymns and Sharagans to the children.

 

3.-The AACCA is scheduling two Train-the-Trainer workshops for Conductors, as part of the Junior Choir program to be held on August 10, 2002, and October 19, 2002 at the Diocese, NY. The participants in this workshop will be trained in techniques on how to teach Junior Choirs.

 

4.-The AACCA has scheduled two Senior Choir workshops, one on May 18, 2002 at St. Davidís Church, Boca Raton, FL. and the other on June 8, 2002 in Richmond , VA.Ý These workshops are open to all adult choir members, and those who wish to join our Church choirs.

 

5.-A new ChildrenísÝ music Badarak book, transposed to a lower key for use by Junior Choirs, has been completed by Dr. Socrates Boyajian, January, 2002.Ý Additionally the DRE is working on providing the English explanation and understanding of the Badarak hymns for the Children.

 

6.-An ìEnglish Tutorial Instructional Manual of the Yegmalian Badarakî was completed Nov.2001 by Fr. Tavit Boyajian.Ý This Tutorial can be used as a tool to teach both Junior and Senior choir memberís in learning the meaning of the Badarak hymns.

 

7.-The AACCA produced a CD of four Junior Choirs singing the Badarak at the Choir Assembly in Trumbull, CT, November 4, 2001.Ý A total of 54 Children were in the Junior Choir singing the Divine Liturgy, directed by Maestro Khoren Mekanejian, and were from the Trumbull, CT, Wynnewood, PA, White Plains, NY, and Bayside, NY Parishes.Ý The CD project was completed March 2002. The purpose for producing the CD was to show that it is possible for children to learn and sing the Badarak.Ý This CD is available for $10.00 and proceeds will go toward the development of the Junior Choir Program.

 

 

 

 

8.-The AACCA has reissued the cassette tapes of the four parts of the Yegmalian Badarak.Ý

The AACCA has developed the publications of the ìSunday Morning Serviceî and the ìEight Modes of the Resurrection, Jashoo Hymnsî with English translations.Ý

 

9.-The AACCA website, at www.sograd.com\aacca ,Ý can be used as a reference and a learning tool that identifies Jashoo and other hymns for every Sunday.
