Norman Noorjanian Remembered

Norman Noorjanian - Loved By All Who Knew Him

The Armenian community was saddened with the news of the untimely passing of Norman Noorjanian, 64, of Milford, Massachusetts, on December 3, 1998.

Norman was known by all as a quiet, loving, trustworthy person who was devoted to his family and friends, and who worked unceasingly for his church.  Norman's love for the Armenian Church was manifested by his years of outstanding service to the Association of Armenian Church Choirs of America as treasurer and as a lifetime member of the Ekmalian Choir of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour in Worcester, Mass.  He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour Church and was also a member of the Knights of Vartan Arshavir Lodge.

Norman was born in Milford to the late Arshag and Margaret (Nalbandian) Noorjanian and lived there all of his life, loyally serving his community as a respected citizen and as a generous supporter of its causes.  He attended and graduated from Milford High School and earned an accounting degree from Burdett College in Boston in 1956.  He also studied at the American Banking Institute.  At the time of his death, Noorjanian was vice president and cashier of the Milford National Bank and Trust Company where he worked for more than forty years.  He was active in the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, as well as a trustee and an incorporator of Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital.  Norman served in the Army National Guard Co. 1, 181st Infantry Division in Milford.

His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, officiated at the funeral services for Norman Noorjanian, assisted by the Rev. Fr. Aved Terzian, pastor the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Co-celebrants were Very Rev. Fr. Oshagan Gulgulian, Rev. Fr. Vasken Kouzouian and Rev. Fr. Krikor Sabounjian.  The funeral service was held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the interment was at Vernon Grove Cemetery, both in Milford.  The altar servers, choir and organist of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour participated in the service.

Norman was married for forty years to Joyce (Ajelian) Noorjanian and is survived by Joyce and a son Gregory, a daughter Melanie, and a sister Beatrice M. Kahaian, all of Milford.  He was predeceased by a son John, a brother Oscar Noorjanian, and a sister Susan Q. Noorjanian.
