Date: June 24, 2005

Subject: Adult Choir Leadership Development Program

The prime objective of the Association of Armenian Church Choirs of America (AACCA) since 1948 is to promote the teaching of the sacred music of the Armenian Church. This year, in support of this objective and in order to develop choir leaders, the AACCA is undertaking a new objective, the Adult Choir Leadership Development Program (ACLDP).

The initial ACLDP will occur August 19-20, 2005, at the Ararat Center in Greenville, NY. The program will consist of a series of intensive sessions in the areas of: Armenian sacred music, ear training and conducting. A review of the Divine Liturgy will also occur, with a focus on the roles of the choir (soprano, alto, tenor and bass), the deacon and the priest.

The instructors for the sessions will be clergy and laymen from parishes from across the Diocese. The participants of this program will be able to benefit both from the knowledge as well as the experience of these talented individuals. Each session will consist of multiple 90-minute sessions. Each session will consist of a 60-minute presentation/lecture, followed by 30 minutes of questions/answers. The instructors will provide additional reference materials for the participants to consult following the formal training. The cost of this two-day program will be $150.

Please review the enclosed application form for this program.
