From: Dn. Gregory Krikorian, Central Council Chair
Subject: 57th ANNUAL ASSEMBLY AGENDA AND CREDENTIAL FORMS
Date: September 15, 2003
Information concerning the 57th Annual Choir Assembly is enclosed. The dates are October 24-26, 2003, in Fair Lawn, NJ, hosted by the St Leon Armenian Church Choir. The attached agenda for the Choir Assembly outlines the weekend's program. The enclosed Delegate's Credential Certificate is a form which will be needed by each representative who wishes to be registered as an official delegate. Please remember that a separate form is required as an official delegate, duly completed and signed and brought to the assembly .
As a reminder to our choirs, may I refer to Article VII of the Bylaws which states, in effect, that ex-officio delegates to the Annual Assembly are the Parish Priest, the Choir Chairman, the Choir Director, an Organist, a representative of the Altar Servers. Up to three additional delegates may represent a local choir based upon the number of its members (6 to 25 choir members = 1 delegate, 26 to 50 choir members = 2 delegates, 51 or more choir members = 3 delegates). It is hoped that the number of delegates to attend this Assembly will be encouraging for the host choir.
The Event Registration forms sent to all choirs by the host committee should be returned to the committee as soon as possible. In addition, if all choirs and parishes could support the host choir with a contribution to the commemorative booklet, the assembly would be all the more successful. Please remember that the deadline for receiving the $99 per night rate at the Amerisuites Hotel is September 24, 2003, so get your reservations in on time.
Encouraged by the success of last year, the same format will be used this year: one day of business sessions and one day of workshops. It is essential, therefore, that delegates arrive and register on time for the first session. The Central Council report will be available to delegates upon registration and should be reviewed prior to the Friday business sessions.
Our Primate, His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, will preside over the Assembly and will present his message on Saturday morning, October 25, 2003.
Traditionally, at the Assembly Banquet, on Saturday evening, the Central Council will present awards.
Our rehearsal of Diving Liturgy will occur on Saturday afternoon. It is important that all participants be present for this rehearsal if they plan to sing on Sunday morning. Delegates should bring with them their copy of the revised edition of the Sacred Music of the Armenian Church.
The Assembly will receive bids from choirs that are interested in hosting a future Assembly, 2004 and beyond.
We look forward to seeing you at the Assembly.
