Bulletin #03 1999

To: Parish Priests, Parish Council Chairpersons, Choir Chairpersons, Choir Leaders, Organists

From: Dr Socrates Boyajian, Chair, Central Council

Date: April 30, 1999

Subject: Minutes of the 52nd Annual Choir Assembly

Note: This bulletin is the cover page that was sent out with the mailings of the minutes. The minutes have been mailed to the mailing distribution list of the AACCA.

Enclosed are the minutes of the 52nd Annual Choir Assembly held in Cambridge, MA, with the Choir of Holy Trinity Church as host. The minutes and accompanying reports have been approved by the Primate and the Diocesan Council - with the exception of two items in the Budget Committee report.

The first line item concerns an addition of a $2000 (Annual Diocesan Subsidy) amount in the anticipated revenues section of the report for 1999. This line item should not have been added to the budget without the prior approval of the Diocesan Council. The funds will not be available for 1999. To make sure that this does not happen again, I have sent a formal request for this subsidy for the next year to the Diocesan Council. We should know by our Choir Assembly date later this year whether this amount has been approved or not.

The second line item concerns an addition of $2000 amount, in the anticipated revenues section again, for activities related to the Youth Choir Camp. We did not identify the source of this revenue. Until the source is identified - as well as a defined program of activities - this amount will not be available as a revenue source.

In addition, we neglected to elect an Audit Committee at the 52nd Annual Choir Assembly. Since then, I have appointed an Audit Committee (with our Primatešs approval) - based in the New York City area - to audit the books for 1999 and to also help in the transition of the books to our new treasurer Mary Selvinazian.

As the chairman of the Choir Assembly, I regret that I let these items slip by. But I am grateful that we have second sets of eyes that will point these issues out and help in getting us back on course on these issues.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carol Loshigian and Barbara Young for acting as secretaries at the 52nd Annual Assembly. I truly appreciate their efforts in documenting the events and decisions of the Choir Assembly.

Respectfully yours,
Dr Socrates Boyajian
